Fear of Failure distracts you from Faith

Fear of Failure distracts you from Faith

"Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will."

The summer before my freshman year of college, I was overwhelmed with the thought of moving from my small town in Ohio to Los Angeles....alone. I was afraid to fail. I was terrified that I would become homesick and have to leave.

These common thoughts haunt young adults all over the world as they begin to pack up their childhood bedroom and leave their comfortable life by entering college. When we hyperfocus on what could go wrong and fear the outcome, we lose sight of our faith. Trusting in God's plan is essential. You can't trust God and fear God all at the same time. You ultimately have to choose to trust or remain fearful. You may still feel the butterflies that come with uncomfortable environments, but you will feel more peace in the process of life when you choose to trust.

There's no way to see what's on the other side of change and you can fear it all day long, but then you are limiting yourself and not allowing yourself to grow. And we all want to grow into the best versions of ourselves.

God will guide you in all aspects of life even the scary ones. Distance is scary, and change is even scarier. Put both of those together and it feels like a complete nightmare, but nightmares don't last forever. My months of worrying and fear were quickly forgotten when I got to school and began to realize how amazing change truly is.

I tell everyone, "Pepperdine changed my life," and I mean it. Pepperdine was the defining moment in my life. It gave me the courage and strength to follow my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and author. Ultimately, Pepperdine taught me to trust God with all my being and believe in my journey, no matter where it takes me.

It's okay to be afraid, but do not ever let fear overpower your faith.
