You’re Not Falling Behind - You’re Just Moving at Your Own Pace

You’re Not Falling Behind - You’re Just Moving at Your Own Pace

I think at some point, we all feel like we’re behind. Like we missed something. Like we’re somehow late to our own lives. We look around and everyone seems to be doing something more. More successful. More in love. More accomplished. More healed. And in those moments, it’s so easy to turn inward and feel like we’re not doing enough.

But let me tell you something I had to learn the hard way. You are NOT behind. You’re not late. You’re just moving at your own pace - and that’s exactly where you’re supposed to be.

I’ve had to remind myself of this more times than I can count. Especially in the quiet seasons - the ones where things felt like they weren’t falling into place, when progress wasn’t loud or obvious, and when comparison crept in and made me question everything. But with time, journaling, and real self-reflection, I realized something powerful: My journey will never look like someone else’s - and it’s not supposed to.

We each have our own timing. Our own breakthroughs, Our own moments of clarity. And just because someone else is reaching a goal faster doesn’t mean you’re failing. Just because someone else looks healed doesn’t mean you’re broken.

The truth is, growth doesn’t always look like a highlight reel. Sometimes it looks like staying in. Saying no. Changing direction, or starting over - again. But that doesn’t mean you’re behind. It means you’re human. And if you’re showing up - day by day, even if it’s quietly - you’re not stuck. You’re not behind. You’re moving forward in the way you were meant to.

We don’t celebrate the slow seasons enough. The pauses. The pivots. The moments of deep reflection that no one else sees. But those seasons are sacred. They’re where the inner work happens. They’re where your foundation is built. They’re where you start to listen to your voice again instead of the world’s expectations. So if you’re in a season where things don’t feel big or shiny or impressive - breathe. You’re not behind. You’re exactly where you need to be. And your timing? It’s divine, even if it’s slower than you thought it would be.

Journaling Prompt for today

Where in my life do I feel like I’m behind - and how can I begin to trust that I’m right on time?
