The Self-Care Reset: 10 Habits That Changed My Energy This Month

The Self-Care Reset: 10 Habits That Changed My Energy This Month

There are seasons when life feels heavy - when your energy is off, your routine feels dull, and you catch yourself running on autopilot. That’s usually my cue that I’m overdue for a reset.

This month, I decided to strip my days back to the basics - simple, intentional and self-care habits that brought me back to myself. It wasn’t about bubble baths and face masks (I actually do not like either of these); it was about rebuilding my peace from the inside out.

Here are 10 self-care habits that completely changed my energy - and might just change yours too.

1. Morning Silence

Before I check my phone, I take 5 minutes to sit in silence - no music, no notifications, just stillness. It’s amazing how much clarity you can create before the world gets loud, and it can be done in just 5 minutes. I know life can be busy and mornings can feel rushed, but this little moment can make all the difference.

2. Journaling

I write what’s sitting heavy in my mind - even if it’s messy or doesn’t make sense. Letting it out clears space for new thoughts to flow in throughout the day. (If you need guidance, try The Breakthrough Journal - the prompts are designed exactly for this.)

3. Romanticizing the Little Things

Making my morning matcha slowly, lighting a candle before bed (my favorite), putting on a cute outfit even if I'm home all day (I’ve noticed a huge change in my mood and overall day when I do this). Small rituals make ordinary moments feel special - and that shift changes everything.

4. Scheduling “Do Nothing” Time

I actually block off 30 minutes in my calendar labeled relax. No productivity. No guilt. Sometimes I read a book. Sometimes I sit on my balcony and watch the city below. It doesn’t matter what you do in that 30 minutes, as long as it’s relaxing (don’t sit there and scroll on TikTok).

5. Movement

I’ve never been someone who works out intensely, or with major transformation goals. I choose to move my body how I want and in the ways that make me feel good. For example, I love going on walks, pilates helps me feel stretched and strong, and sometimes I just like to stretch.

6. Setting Boundaries without Conversation

Learning to say “I can’t tonight” without a huge reason why. It saves a lot of energy, and to be honest, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Protecting your peace doesn’t require permission.

7. Tidying My Space = Tidying My Mind

I clean my house every single day. It takes less than 15 minutes and makes my life feel put together no matter what’s going on. When your environment feels calm, you do too.

8. Digital Detox Nights

No social media after 9pm, or an hour before I go to bed. It’s wild how much better I sleep - and how much more present I feel when I wake up.

9. Evening Reflection

Instead of scrolling and scrolling before bed, I just journal one sentence: “What did I do today that made me feel good?” It ends the day on gratitude instead of stress.

10. Reconnecting

I’m by no means a nature girl. I don’t love the outdoors. You’ll never catch me walking barefoot on the grass (which does actually have some proven benefits). But I plan to be in fresh air for at least 10 minutes every single day. Whether that's on a walk or just stepping outside for that time. It’s the easiest energy shift.

Your turn to reset!

You don’t have to wait for burnout to start taking care of yourself. Try one of these habits today - or create your own versions of a “self-care reset.”

And if you’re ready to dig deeper, use your journal as your guide.

Start small. Stay consistent. Your peace is built in the little things.
